SuperTech ATF Safe to Use? Let's find out!
Does ATF brand matter or is it all the same? Is OEM transmission fluid better or worse than aftermarket brands? Automatic transmission fluids compared for resistance to foaming, acidity, wear resistant properties, ability to resistance oxidation and thermal breakdown, viscosity or flow before and after exposure to heat. I also paid an independent testing lab to provide additional information on the automatic transmission fluids.
I bought all of the automatic transmission fluids to ensure an unbiased review. Your support helps keep the channel going! So, thank you for supporting the channel!

Amsoil vs valvoline max life! Maybe also royal purple and winners from this video
I put Redline D6 ATF in a transmission at work, and it was literally a customers transmission that came in and shifting badly and also a torque converter shudder. After I changed the fluid, I couldn’t believe how well the transmission shifted, I couldn’t believe it, we were telling the customer that more than likely we were going to condemn the transmission. $300 job saved the guy a $7000 transmission. Change your fluids people.
Please test Vavoline Maxlife ATF vs Dexron VI!
Redline manual transmission gear oil completely made my vw shift better and smoother engagement. It is pricy but if you care about your vehicle it’s cheap insurance for longevity. Looks like my automatic car is getting Redline d6
🔥🔥🔥

Can I change my transmission fluid, to redline> ? But I have never changed my 2014 Silverado Lt 5.3L 4X4 since bought or then by factory?? With out damaging my transmission? With the fluid change to redline?
Thanks. This was awesome
Round 2 please! All major transmission oils compared!
Only thing about this is you cooked that oil hotter than I think they’re supposed to get. Trans temps aren’t supposed to hit 400F+, more like, what? 250 or so?
Could you do amsoil and valvoline maxxlife extended protection?
Love the channel thanks for the great content. the oil podcasts are like crack man love watching them. I know you have done a few already but the heavy-duty diesel
Truck world has had some oils used in both Automatic trans and the motors. I would love to see a head to head on the PDD Power Driven Diesel ATF, Hotshots secret ATF , Redline ATF ( high heat and Race), Scheafers ATF, AMSOil ATF what the additive packages are and which ones are better for not only newer or rebuilt trans but older high milage Trans, high milage may do better on a higher viscous ATF oil like a redline high heat or one out a friction modifier ( Less slippery) maybe you can assist in explaining that or help the masses figure it out.
Nice video as always. Please make a new one including more OEM vs Multi ATFs. You can include some of the popular OEMs like Toyota and popular ATFs like Valvoline, Amsoil, etc. Thanks. Also would be interesting to check can we safely mix them and would this cause transmission failure since you cannot drain all of the ATF from the system.
I was going to use some of my leftover Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF for my power steering fluid change a week ago. It exceeds Mercon V specs. But I used the leftover ST ATF+4 instead and this morning when it was 2 deg I tested the engine and of course the power steering pump and unlike the week or so before when it was this cold there wasn’t any noise. ATF+4 is slightly better than Mercon V but not exceptionally so if you have to buy it. $6/qt versus $10/qt. When I figured that out I stopped buying ATF+4 and started using Mercon V. Neither one will last the 100,000 they’re supposed to without oxidizing and causing varnish buildup in the valve body. But the ST is just fine especially if you install a drain plug and change the fluid every 50,000 miles. It’s actually licensed and approved rather than just "recommended" for use. It’s cheap enough. The difference between Mercon V and ATF+4 is the amount of detergent, more phosphorus in the latter and more boron but otherwise it’s within the same viscosity range and pumpability when cold. Some will tell you the Motorcraft Mercon V is only a blend rather than the full synthetic that the ATF+4 is but when you look at the msds and the physical properties the "full synthetic" is only marginally better. Schaeffer has a blend that’s so good it’s actually better than most other American companies full synthetic. But you’re going to pay more for it too. Oil companies since about API SN have been able to make a group 2 oil act like…under pressure and temperature like full synthetic but with the benefit of increased solubility. SOPUS and Mobil also… plus the Chevron/Conoco Phillips joint plant in TX also have blends with similar benefits.
Ams oil, royal purple, redline, valvoline max life? That would be a very good match up and good comparison against the redline, winner if this video.
I can smell this video. 😂
Great testing again!!
Awesome videos, love your style. I didn’t see this addressed but maybe it will make a good video. Can you address the thought that transmission fluid expands as it warms up and the dealers instructions that you need to know the exact temperature etc of the fluid when changing and adding transmission fluid? Does transmission fluid actually expand with heat and by how much? Ie 10-20% by volume etc
I think dealers try to scare owners that a drain and fill is like a high level science project and if it is or isn’t your the man to confirm.
I wonder how redline does against Toyota world standard ATF and Valvoline maxlife ATF. 🤔 I trust this channel’s opinion far more than the brands but those are the options I’ve narrowed it down to.
Should do another video with different brands. Idemitsu makes many of the Asian ATF fluids. I believe Honda, Hyundai/Kia & Nissan are made by them. Valvoline max life multi use fluid is extremely popular for many cars. And yea, Amsoil.
Hi, have you tested oil additives? I have hard time finding cheap ATF oil, so I thought maybe adding something to the SuperTech oil could make it usable. It would help if there was a test of those additives. I use Lucas, but I don’t know what it contains or what effect it have on my transmission. Thanks for the quality content of your videos.
***Edit***
I just found the video where you test Lucas Additive.
Can you do a comparison between gm dexron vi and castrol tes 668? Allison transmission removed dex vi as an approved fluid in 2021 and now recommends tes 668. I just did a trans service on my duramax with castrol tes 668 and I could not believe how much of a difference it made
Can you please test hot shot transmission oil
We need to see valvoline maxlife, royal purple, Mobil 1 and amsoil Next !!! Let’s go like this comment guys!
Idk how Redline is in Business they have causes a lot of issues in alot of transmissions
Can you please consider RV Roof Seal Repair Tape ? Thank you
Could we rerun this with Amsoil in the mix? Love your videos!!!
Supertech from all I gather isn’t bad at all.
What is the angle of your pour troughs? 30 degrees? 45 Degrees? Just curious and trying to figure out the velocity of the fluids as they descended at what angle in relation to gravity.
Hey @ProjectFarm, would be super rad if you re did the test with amsoil signature series and redline ATF! I love your videos, thank you for not taking sponsorships and being true
Damnm I just wanted a question, CAN I change my 2014 Silverado truck, transmission fluid to the new redline fluid, WITH OUT
DAMAGING MY TRANSMISSION> Never has been changed. 7:28
I’d like to see transmission fluid oil finals I would love to see brands like Honda, Toyota, mopar… the big car brands I’m running Honda but I would love to see if redline would beat it!
It would be cool to see a video about CVT fluid!!
Damnm U just wanted a question, CAN I change my 2014 Silverado truck, transmission fluid to the new redline fluid, WITH OUR DAMAGING MY TRANSMISSION> Never has been changed.
"Best car parts store" would be a great topic to cover
Well good thing I’m nowhere near -40 Celsius
I would love to see Amsoil
I need to know if I should use Dex VI instead of III in my 06 Sierra 1500.
Transmissions can be way more fickle about what fluid is in them than engines are, I have learned that much over the last 20 years of wrenching.
Any updates to you possibly doing a ATF shoot out like you did with motor oil? Thanks.
Can you do one with Amsoil fuel efficient signature and also Valvoline MaxLife? two very popular fluids. Also Mobil 1 HP LV is hot right now.
Would like to see motorcraft mercon lv atf test against supr tech mercon lv. I see a lots of people say it’s the same , but if motorcraft doesn’t have better anti wear chemicals , it my be.
Ya know, checking the MSDS might be interesting.
+1 for a larger test group. You could add cvt fluid since those are getting more popular.
Last is first in lineup. For those that don’t want to learn . They will skip to end and order acdelco😅
Which brand of ATF +4 do you use in your 48RE after your rebuild?
Valvoline Castrol Amsoil is what I’d like to see
For the money you can’t beat the value Supertech gives over the best Redline for about double the price so it should be from a cost stand point alone. Just change the fluid more often using the Supertech over the Redline. No need to waste money on advertising and an over inflated corporate bureaucracy.
Great comparison. Valvoline synthetic is another excellent ATF in m experience besides Redline. You should compare premium synthetic ATFs.
Awesome man with integrity!!!!
I hear that private label stuff like Super Tech is really made by Amalie. I hear good things about Amalie but never used their stuff.
