  1. I have a 7 inch Android Auto touch screen device that I bought almost a year ago and it works great. All I gotta do is turn on my phone’s bluetooth and Internet and the device connects to my phone within seconds. I was using the Waze app, but it recently started acting up on me and then there were times when it would constantly repeat itself and it just got really annoying. I switched to the TomTom Amigo app which has better reviews and is said to be one of the best GPS apps you can get for free. Depending on my experiences with the Tom Tom app, it will probably end up being my go to GPS app from now on based on how well it supposedly works…

  2. Tomtom are deactivating the SIM in present devices, and future ones won’t have a SIM, you’ll have to tether your phone for traffic and speed camera’s…..and that uses the phone battery

  3. TomTom has SHOCKINGLY BAD customer service. i have had 10 days of correspondence with them to get a refund for a brand new but broken device but this has gotten me nowhere! there are scores of people giving the customer service one star reviews. it is shocking. nobody should have to deal with this sort of thing, i will now use google instead of the expensive rubbish!

  4. These garmen devices fail to find ANY post codes, even a lot of street names. Used mine today. Wouldn’t find any post codes to a wedding registry. I ended up 5 miles from where I meant to be. Updated software last week. Bag of shit

  5. The biggest advantage I found with Mobile phone Apps like Waze and Google Maps was the Live traffic information. Quite a number of times, I found the usual "Best Route" was no good because of unexpected traffic issues, and Google Maps gave live updates on that.
The other advantage is the Phone Apps recalculate a fresh route much faster if you make a wrong turn.
My previous Garmin drove me crazy with the "recalculating" wait right at the moment I most needed to know an alternative route to get me where I wanted to go.

  6. It’s hard for me to take this seriously with the guy wearing a paper mask to defeat a conjured-up microscopic particle threat.

  8. You can not POSSIBLY be serious. Tomtom is absolutely the worst software ever and should never be rated as NAVIGATION software. It’s in 2023 RAMs and I absolutely HATE it and everyone at RAM who allowed such crap should be fired. You said best value car, I disagree, nothing of tomtom can be called best. CHEAPEST CRAP, there, that’s tomtom. My $77,000 Ram Limited Longhorn has this tomtom crap, no color settings, no 3d even there is a 3d button. Call tomtom navigation a suppository, now shove it up your~~~

  9. Am looking for a car GPS navigation system that you can also program which route to drive. Also, I don’t want suction cup mount, they sucks, they fall down. Magnetic mount is much better. That’s the mount that I use for my GoPro.

  10. I have used both Garmin and TomTom, several models of each. TomTom is the best for getting around traffic, even better than waze. TomTom is also superior in showing the direction of slow traffic, out of all options. Tom Tom is also more accurate with where you actually are. The Drive summery is better and easier to use on the TomTom as well. Tom Tom will give you 3 different routes to chose from before you start driving. Garmin will only give 2, and only if you tap the option to show 2. Route shaping is far easier on the TomTom. Although Garmin tends to have flashier graphics, function is far more important.

It seems like TomTom has stopped making devices and have gone to selling the software for phones/Tablets, @ $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year. Both Garmin and TomTom give free map updates, so long as the device is still supported. TomTom also has a huge market within in car Nav systems.

The best advantage to a stand alone is the fact that it does not rely on a internet connection (through cellular Wifi) to plan trips. As an avid hiker, I am often in areas that do not have cell service, and it is not possible to get a route out with internet dependent apps. The TomTom Go app stores the maps offline as well, so the app itself is not using the internet to plan routes, it only uses the internet to get traffic data.

  11. I am looking for something that will give me Traffic lights alerts. If I am driving in a new area, I want to reduce the chance of running a red light. Thanks

  12. My Garman unit isn’t supported any longer according to their website. I paid for lifetime support. Gave my paid invoice documentation and their response was no response! Now using my phone navigation for driving and have given up on Garman. However still use my Garman hiking model as an emergency backup support incase I’m lost. It uses small preprogrammed memory tabs than don’t need to be updated.

  13. There is one major downfall of all of them… sound. None are loud enough. And insane that with bluetooth they can’t pair with car stereo or bluetooth speaker. A basic tablet can do that and most you can use aux jack as alternative. I have basic mopar stereo paired with bluetooth to tablet and it sends sound with interrupt just like a phone call… so it lowers music and I can hear the direction clearly… So gave away my Garmin DriveSmart 76

  14. Bull crap review. Narrator read product description and used manufacturer pics. Criteria for what is the best? Customer reviews. Awful repetitive music too. Does anyone do a review on these where they at least get their hands on one?

  15. Sat navs great in 2006 but in 2024 I don’t see the point in a standalone unit that has to piggy back off your phones data for traffic updates. I moved to using google maps and waze on my large display phone. Sat navs units are obsolete now
