3 Different Methods for Tuning a Car [4k]

There’s a few different ways that people can tune their car. Piggyback ECU’s, Flash Tuning, or Standalone tuning. I’ve found that a lot of people don’t know the difference between these methods and the benefits or drawbacks of each choice. So we decided to make this video in partnership with Cobb to explain the 3 primary methods that people use to tune their cars. Hope you enjoy!

  1. I had the JB1 on my 2016 Golf R and loved it! Amazing power and George from Burger Motorsports was a joy to work with. I now have their JB4 on my 2019 Type-R and its even better thanks to the bluetooth functionality with their app. You can monitor several digital gauges, data log and switch maps on the fly…it’s phenomenal and best part again is there is no flash or checksum file left behind on your factory ECU ;b Cobb is a great option too but their OST maps are really prevalent to knock, at least on the Subaru and Evo platform. Pro tunes are definitely the way to go for this route.

  2. I admit it I’m a boring bastard. Always keep it stock and we’ll maintained. Please no hate mail. Really go above 2000 RPM. Not being married all my sympathy goes to my car.

  3. Nice video quick question I have a 2013 old gen with APR stage 2 with AWE track back and was thinking going APR stage 3 but a lot of people are saying get the APR bigger turbo but go with a different tune to get more options and power can you give me some suggestions thanks

  4. I was looking how to get my engine tuned, as in getting the engine running normal, and i find this… Now I’m going to turn my impala into a ricer 😂

  5. how simple everything is on the video .. but I’m afraid that if I start repeating it all myself, I’ll stay buzz the car )))))

  6. What’s best for my 02 vw jetta with the 2.8 glx vr6 engine? I want more take off, more boost and more power. Mine is not the turbo. But will be turb boosted in 2 months. What’s best for me to use right now so I can bring to a shop to get it done? I currently have straight headers, straight pipe and cold air intake. Not much of anything but I want more out of my beefy engine

  7. I just bought a 2017 Toyota tundra
I know what is a lot of people in the states are getting their vehicles tuned by professional tuner for around $450

The other option is I can buy a bully dog like everybody else

Or something like an HP tuner

Is the bully dog good enough
😊 What am I trying to do I’m just trying to make the vehicle run smoother improve miles per gallon and shifting points

  8. I have a cold air intake and catback exhaust. Can I tune it myself with just a laptop and some software? I mean the mods ain’t much but it’s certainly taking in air and dispersing exhaust on a level the ECU wasn’t programmed to, so a tune will bring out the most of what I have. I just wish I knew more.

  9. 2 question from Italy 🇮🇹
    First one:
I’m not sure of that, but in all these case you can only modify the ECU changing the code with a new pre-written code and you can’t access at single parameters changing them as you want wright?

    Second one
How can you be sure that the mechanic contest is robust enough to support the increase of power ?

  10. Ive been looking everywhere for a video like this, ive asked around no one will share any kind of info this topic.

  11. That background music is kinda too loud. Too distracting. Info is fairly thin, could use a bit more explaining of the whys and wheres.

  12. God I really want to learn about cars but I’m stuck at the bottom and I don’t know where to start ☹️

  13. does the cobb work for any car or are cobbs build to certain cars cause i see online that theres specific car brand names on sum of the accessports

  14. Tuning the car is not a simple task. Having specialized knowledge is required the most for obtaining the best results from the vehicle. Help from the experienced one will serve the best purpose. I’ve chip tuned my car from Tuningfileshop, they tuned my car instantly and quickly with ultimate results.

  15. Great video, I was actually searching for tuning methods as in street tuning vs dyno tuning, etc. Are you planning on making such a video? Thanks!

  16. Does tuning void your vehicle’s warranty? Does it also impact reliability? Thinking of doing this to my Nissan 370Z

  17. anyone has any ideas on how/where to tune a 5 cyl passat b7. i found a few companies that tune it although they barely have any gain
