Don’t skimp on the sdcard thinking you are saving money.
When you need it most, you will find it did not record anything because it was not functioning.
Cam B looks better and will meet my needs
Ok so I’m a little late commenting on this one. One thing that wasn’t addressed is how the electronics will perform in extreme temperatures. Where I’m domiciled I need something that will perform at -10F winter temps thru the 100F or more summer temps. It’s just something to consider when considering a dash cam.
I’m wondering if he remembered to peel off the packaging protective film off before using. Because it’s easily missed. Towards the end I noticed when he showed them both side by side, the film is still on.
That $40 dashcam is amazing for thw price

$40 camera is digging too much gamma. too bad they don’t include video adjustment controls. Honestly , you’re not going to get much better regardless of how much you spend.
How do you pair the camera to the app? Is it via wifi or bluetooth?

Check out the A139, reviewed at Vortex Radar on youtube, which has a much better new sensor. Linus Tech Tips did a review a bit ago and pointed out that every one of these cameras is using the same camera and chips inside.

You can tell with camera is which because you showed them both mounted on your windshield. Course the $40 had no chance, but even a cheap cam is better then non.

I think all dash-cams are fudging the night time specs. About three years ago I bought a decent dash-cam with the then new Sony sensor. Although it was not one of the big names, it independently surpassed other makes, especially at night. But, as shown in this video, it did not in fact make it easy to read number plates. In fact, headlights shining on the number plates turned them into blindingly white blank rectangles. Still, it could see fairly clearly in night time rural locations the colour of the other vehicles, even when coming towards the camera. So, it would still be able to show the authorities if the other driver was at fault. Now the kicker, all dash-cams use the same family of Sony sensors, so they pretty well are the same out of the box. The thing that sets them apart is the onboard computing power to clean up the video by balancing the different light conditions, and the lens quality. The cheap camera looks like it used cheap acrylic lenses, while the Garmin uses glass. By the way, when buying a dash-cam, if the option is available, purchase the polarised lens filter. Watch the screen or app on your phone, and rotate the filter until the reflections on the windscreen disappear. You will be amazed how much clearer the video will become. It will reduce the reflections, plus take away that slight grey tinge caused by the reflections.

I’ve got an AZDOME and it’s crap. The arm between the suction pad and the camera is about three inches and puts the camera too far from the screen. The wires in the screen are visible. The length of the arm also magnifies vibration. The battery lasts about 10 seconds after turning off the engine, so parking mode is non existant.

Garmin image looks way better and more detailed during the day, and in the night the difference is really big, 70Mai is unusable at night.
At first I was like “I need a screen!” on the cam. But then I thought more about it and why? Why do I need a screen? The answer is I don’t.

Im suprised how bad is that 70mai. I was using okley for 30 poounds by few years and it was same level what garmin here. Need to change it, just because it drops few times and buttons doesnt works properly now.
