Tuning Software || ECU TUNING

First video of the ECU TUNING series.

ECU Tuning is any change you make to your ECU to optimize performance, drivability or performance! It can involve adjusting and modifying many values and settings, but the main focus is usually to optimize fuel delivery and ignition timing.

In this video I talk about choosing the right software to tune your ECU. There are many tuning software out there, some free and some you pay for. Deciding which tuning software to use requires a bit of understanding of the process itself which I explain in this video.

Enjoy!

  1. Very good program Which is the best one to buy for programming and diagnostics and bio directional? And to adjust the fuel to make more power?

  2. Great video! I’m looking to tune my g35x, I know uprev is the best paid software for it, but I would love to hear about some other open source options.

  3. Good video on giving the fundamentals to keep in mind for someone just getting started. Would love to see a video for those intermediately involved, perhaps not just so much for tuner’s, but for those interested in reverse engineering newer platforms for which theirs a future market waiting to grow off of.

  4. Is it possible to reprogram the ecupcm to forget the all wheel drive system and make the vehicle front wheel drive with the necessary traction control? or basically gut all the all wheel drive components and drop a different front wheel drive trans in and make the ecu/pcm function as if it was never all wheel drive in the first place? also would be nice to have manual control of Vtec on honda’s 3.5 v6 for speeds of 65 plus for better fuel milage. Mabey I’m just wishful thinking and just need to go back to a 80’s model truck/suv.

  5. Awesome video, got an awesome style! Love your work! The timing is insane, as my usb cable just arrived.

    If I may kindly request:
    BMW E90 320d 2005 (M47N2)

    Situation: Not boosting optimal. Serious turbo lag.

    Over the last 5000km brand new intercooler, charged boost line & sensors (all brand new oem stock) and had my stock turbo reconditioned, rebuild and flow bench tested (as the electronic actuator was failing)

    Garrett stock turbo with an hybrid billit compressor. New vains. Brand new actuator.

    The problem: When my actuator started failing, my machanic installed another spare actuator, that did not solve the problem, then changed boost settings to attempt to optimize the boost. Actuator still kept on failing intermittently, until I replaced the turbo complete. Since then, serious turbo lag as I pick up Rev over 2k RPM if I acceleratate moderately RPM will drop of and I clearly feal an speed decrease then boost build-up, as well as going uphill I experience "jitters" and my overall "torqy" fealing is poor compared to 10k km before I had any issues.

    I would like to dig into the software more, to varify if it is actually an boost problem and if possible see if I can make some improvements.

    Solving this, next steps stage 1 ecu tune (ECU remap and tune on dyno)
    But want to get her in tip top shape before I do.
    EGR = deleted.
    Swirl flaps = metal flaps (not plastic)
    CAT = removed

  6. hay what would be the best software for a ford transit diesel I’m looking to just delete egr and dpf and no one want to explain lol

  7. Do you know how I could get started tuning stock Toyota ecu. Around me everyone has a Honda, BMW, or Nissan and the Toyota tuning for my platform(is300) usually go full stand alone pushing like 700hp. There’s not much information for lower horsepower tunes.

  8. Wow, this video is awesome. I just bought a new car and want to have it tuned and am totally lost. The last time I owned a performance car it had a carburetor on it. Thanks a bunch!

  9. Hey buddy love your videos
    Really appreciate all the knowledge
    Just a stupid question
    I got an audi a6 and i was planning on doing crackle tuning my self
    Is that a good idea and if yes which software will you prefer and yes i am a annoying little ***** πŸ˜‚

  10. Could you talk about old group FIAT ECUs? It’a not really a sports car but I own a pre obd2 Lancia Y with a Magneti Marelli IAW 16F ET Ecu 3 pins connector) and it would be interesting to know what can be done on this type of units…
    Great job anyway that’s probably the most interesting channel I found in the past 2 years at least

  11. Awesome stuff! I watched your "Basics" video you did a while back because I’m new to this tuning thing and I’ve been mystified. Your video demystified many things for me, so I figured I’d check out your channel, hoping there’d be much more. But alas, there was only this one. To my great delight, it was the first of a series. Given what I’ve seen in the first two I’m stoked to see you more! You explain things concisely and understandably….unlike other videos I’ve seen for "beginners" that assume I know more than I do. So, thanks for your efforts….BRING IT! Oh, and I vote for the Terminator X as that’s what’s going into my Foxbody 347 build! Thanks!
