  1. I freaking love your kits. I recently bought a set of paint pens and have started labeling and dating stuff all over my life.

  2. Absolutely phenomenal choice to use a Klein zipper bag. I work in the trades and slowly overtime you find out about exceptional tools and products through work. But I truly appreciate you sharing your curated collection of some of the best “stuff.” The typewriter and it’s case, your pencil and how to modify it, Swiss Army knife, the list can go on and on. Thank you Van

  3. It simply cathartic to watch your video Van. I’m a programmer all day long on my computer but I’m also a men with a couple of abilities to do things on my house and backyard and each time I watch one of your video, I simply just one to go away of my computer and do some stuff with my hand and tools like you. You are a genius in every ways!

  4. I like it. I’ve got a similar "track bike emergency" kit in my messenger bag with a 15mm wrench, hex keys, etc. Now it’s gonna receive a pair of red Sharpies too

  5. I love how the most replayed part is the part in the beginning where Van struggles to drive on his side of the road

  6. Oh hey, for the string/cord, I use technora, stuff is amazing and for thinner thread type string, I use dyneema, both are super strong and resistant. Just a heads up if your unaware of them

  7. Great informative videos. The backing track is a little too intense for my liking though, tending to stir up feelings of suspense. The particular brand/type of clear tape is important, but the music suggests it is a life or death decision.

  8. "So I know where they are." I can’t count the number of things I have in random places because I know that they’re there and don’t know where else to keep them..

  9. Try 2 part cyanoacrylate glue. Works dramatically better than hot glue for small precise repairs and is pretty strong, quite brittle though

  10. Every year I give my family themed gifts, usually for their cars since everyone drives and practicality is always welcomed. This coming Christmas, I’m using this video as a primer to create each family member their own center console kit. I’ll use really nice bags to upscale a little. Thanks for this. 😎👍🏼

  11. If I can recommend one thing, it’s the Fiskars scissor sharpener.
It takes nicks out of blades. I got mine at Staples many years ago, and I’ve sharpened and re-sharpened dozens of pairs of scissors, no wear on the sharpener.

  12. That wasn’t “Velcro®️” or any other brand of hook and loop material. (Head lock?) And, not a “charger”, a power adapter (the charging circuitry is in the phone).

  13. I don’t understand the use case for most of these items, and I was surprised to see there weren’t many actual useful things. 😕

  14. For the Post-It users, please try out the FULL STICK version–instead of just one strip with adhesive the full back is covered except a narrow stip at the bottom by which to lift them. Extremely useful for leaving notes but also as temporary tape. Also, I think every car kit needs a flashlight.

  15. only about a minute in. all of this is horrificly bad advice (and this guys editing and voice are pretentious and disgusting). except the leatherman. always have a multitool on you and the leatherman is one of the best out there.

    i own a 2013 hyundai elantra gt

anyone with half a brain, the full shop manual, and the right tools can repair almost anything on it on the road that doesnt require replacement parts. same for ANY modern car. yeah theyre complicated and have computers and sensors and sh!t BUT a PROPER shop manual (see your cars manufacturer’s website or a simple search) will give you very detailed step by step instructions for repairing ANYTHING

thess manuals are meants for professionals so theyre not dumbed down to our level but being a mechanic aint rocket surgery and if I can figure it all out you can too fam I promise.

hell I can even read electrical schematics well enough to repair squirrel damage to my electrical harness and headlights with NO training whatsoever. and i aint no genius thats for d@mn sure lol

    So!

shop manual. download it. print it out. keep in glove compartment.

    multitool for quickie bogan repairs

a VERY good set of manual and electric tools

    code reader

    electrical repair kit

spare battery, spark plugs, brakes, oil, ect in the trunk or garage or whatever at all times

common sense maintenence and routine checks

comes to about 1000-1500 to never ever have to visit a mechanic ever again. saves thousands and god knows how much time and stress. pay once and cry once.

  16. Good kit! I keep a mtb multi tool in kits also. And head lamps in every vehicle. Roll of E tape. Roll of paper towels. Non potable water(can drink in extreme emergency) some honey packets cause your brain needs some sugar if stranded. Zip ties. Self sealing silicone tape for a bonus. Wooden dowel rod under back seat cause why not. Extra socks and flip flops stashed. Tire plugs in every car/truck + hand pump for bonus

  17. I am surprised the spirited man doesn’t sharpen his own shears. It’s an easy skill to pick up and pays dividends.

  18. not one 10mm socket or wrench? when you have a metric toyota? ….. the spirited man let me down a little bit with this one

  19. “If the car is newer than say 2005, you ain’t fixing it.” lol appreciate you telling me right off the bat that this video is not for me and can be skipped!

  20. Add a wire coat hanger, useful for breaking into cars with the keys locked inside, making a temporary exhaust hanger, many other potential uses.

  21. What is this for?
When you’re faced with a real life issue you say
"Don’t sweat it guys, I have a bag of nic-nacs in my car"

  22. I bet you could explain how you fold your kitchen towels and I’d be entertained, and learn a few nifty tricks along the way 🙂

  23. Can you please make a vid on your kit for a motorcycle. I live in Vietnam use my dirtbike everyday and would love to learn how to fix it better!

    Love your channel, brother.

  24. I know that it might not feed the artistic goals of this venture, but I want to see every kit in excruciating detail. Like I would sign up for patreon if you just dropped an album of all kits you’ve assembled. Cheers.

  25. some hand sanitizer would go a long way as well! all of your videos are like gold im loving watching them all

  26. Yeah but WHAT are all those things for?? Would love some examples of how you’d use some of those things…

  27. Reel of dental floss – can be used with needle for really tough sewing repairs (or used as dental floss) and cable ties / zip ties
