Better check that weather boi, or else you’re cooked going to a flooded area or place
I knew I remembered that logo, nice to see someone local
It will suck in water
Cold water intake.
You need to swap it or change that intake manifold. Those are poop
Original air box was better…
Hey
Do yourself a favor
Place the filter at the tower bar connector…. Remove the black Dc rubber coupler….. Place the cone there
It’s low power, short low end gains
So having the filter there, will quicken the response for faster power gains
Hey, you might get some heat, but it’s better for low end power NA engines
The Long tube intake style is for High rpm, high RPM VTEC engines
Not a single, nonVTEC
Believe me…. Read this, implement it
And see for yourself
Good Luck bud
I can vouch this… deffinatly worked on my old B18c6 1995 civic & my civic aerodeck… It won’t work straight away, I un plug my ecu over night… Next day go for a long drive so ecu can Re read fuel and air. It’s the Short pipe induction that sits next to engine is the one that lowers power as it sucks in hot engine air… The colder the air… The better😎
Aye my Washington homie!
With that stock intake, I used to just disconnect the main airbox tube and enjoy the induction noise with the stock filter.
A head swap is the best way to get the most out of a d series I put a z6 head on my d15b7 made it so I can pass people on the highway
So a video asking if it’s worth it with no testing that proves if it is or isn’t…….
your cold air intake is properly cold and not right above the exhaust manifold
good job
hes not ready for when it rains
Drill a hole on the headlights tol let air enter the intake and make the car illegal :p
I’m a beginning learner with my 96 civic D16y8 head with y7 bottom end, I got a question for the experienced, so with these air intakes do you just simply arrange/install them and your set? Or is it recommended to get a tune up due to it possibly having inaccurate air mass sensor readings, also isn’t a lowered air intake like this one in the video not recommended due to if you hit a pot hole while it’s raining or bending/scraping that lower cover you can flood out the engine through the intake correct? I’ve heard so many pros/cons about intakes they look and sound great but the cons seem to risky I can’t make my mind up.
Easily worth 50 horsepower
Did you tune it for the 2.4whp extra?
‘held on by 10mm screws’ hahaha.. any credilibilty dude has instantly lost
Heat sink?
Just be careful not to suck up any puddle water
Wow someone who actually installed a cold air intake and not a hot air intake.
The funny thing is that one this car might end up at the auction and someone will make a video on it😭😭
All of these videos all ram air intakes what all of y’all promote is extremely false quite the opposite it’s just for turbo noise just put in high air flow drop in filter than you’ll get what you’re promoting from the “cold air intake”
good luck going through a puddle in that
The fact that this started from a biohazard car to this
Do these cars run lean as it is? Are we sacrificing low end torque for more peak power? Find out when somebody answers these questions. I assume the answer will be: yes.
That little civic looks clean and taken care of. Lovely. Sometimes I can’t believe 1997 is 28 years ago, I was 12 back then. Time sure flies.
Cai in Washington state idk
These are good, but on the other hand they dont filter much
ebay hot air intake on my ek hatch was my first mod. the filter element separated from the housing in about a month…
Others than the induction sound the rest is a lie 🤥 unless you tune the car for the intake. It’s been proven time and time again that you actually lose horsepower doing this or any modifications without tuning the ECU for the upgrade.
Yes this is a CAI, but really, better fuel economy?…. You need a tune. If anything it will use more.
Not much power, but a must have for anyone with snails
Increased fuel ecomny…..who told you that😂😂😂😂 you dont no what you talkin about it do ya
Is that legit a d16y8? 😮
I don’t see something like a Cold Air Intake as an upgrade that is going to make my car go faster, but just makes it a more audible experience on the track with some better throttle response. Let me know what you guys think down in the comments. Join our Discord for more. 🕵
Your CAI is too low. Hope you never face flash floods. What induction? It’s naturally aspirated.
Until you really open up the exhaust this really isn’t that big of a gain.
Swap it out for a K&N filter . I had an intake from DC in my turbo car . When I swap the filter to K&N I was making 2 more lbs of boost than the DC filter
Cold air intake like this one helped my d16y8 get to its max speed a little bit quicker, helped the tires let loose a little easier as well, I did have a 2.25” cat back and that was all. Great cars!
A factory intake is a cold air intake and cone filters don’t have more surface area, they’re for packaging. Most of them flow enough air stock, that they aren’t really a choke point, or can be slightly modded.
You will gain just the noise of ai induction sound , not ho not more response , maibee les ho anna lagi respone of the throtle .. because is testet and ist teu tou lose more hp and etc etc
Hopefully you know that it comes sectioned like that so for regular street driving, you can shorten it and have the filter under the hood in case it rains. If it’s in the bumper you’re gonna hydro lock. Bumper placement is for track only.
Nice 97 I have 88 hatchback
Remove the light brotha 😂
Stick air intake setup does the same thing
One downside is also reduced fuel economy unless it causes the engine to run lean which does happen often and is one way they make more power.
As far as fuel economy. Heat loss is lost energy lost energy is lost fuel economy. Also colder air means more oxygen and the car measures the temp and air pressure and decides how much fuel to add. More oxygen than more fuel. So you have colder air cooling the air and high air density and flow meaning more fuel added. So no it doesn’t really improve fuel economy.
It does make the car louder in a cool way though. They sound great on cars that don’t have loud exhaust.
Feel like its the year 2000 agian.
I really had hope you would have practiced restraint with modifying this Honda. I just don’t think it’s possible, but I had hopes for you.
