How to Install a Performance Intake Manifold and Replace Gaskets (Dyno PROOF)

Learn how to replace an intake manifold and intake manifold gaskets in your car or truck. I am upgrading my intake manifold from a non PI intake to a PI performance intake which will hopefully add some Horsepower and Torque! I also show you how to install a water pump, and how to tap the intake port for a coolant temperature sensor.

  1. Hey gotta question will this intake work on a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis with the 4.6 just from the look of it, it will but I don’t wanna spend that much money and it be wrong

  2. I replaced the intake manifold gaskets, but I still have a vacuum leak. I smoke tested it and it seems to be the gaskets again.. Could I add RTV seal on the new gaskets (all the way around) to help seal better or is that bad? It’s a 2002 audi a4 b6 3.0 petrol quattro
I tightened it to 10Nm working from the middle outward, so unless it’s warped or something then idk what could cause the issue.. PS, removing the intake is quite the work😕 (especially because it’s running duel fuel petrol and LPG). Please help, thank you in advance! ❤️

  3. I can’t believe you left the top of the block, underneath the intake manifold, dirty… you disappoint me… 😅😅

  4. Here’s a top tip. If you’re doing engine work that requires coolant to be drained (water pump, intake, timing belt and water pump) if your coolant is still ok, pour it back into the reservoir through a paint strainer.

  5. I really admire the work you put in all the videos. I check for your new videos almost daily and always wonder what takes you so long. Everytime I see the new video I’m like "okay, this was worth waiting". The work you have to put in repairing the car and in addition to that, the work you have to put in moving and placing the camera so every bolt you touch is visible for the viewer and finally editing the video the way you do it (every transition, every splitscreen, all the bolts to mark and these things you do with graphs) must take hours and hours. I really appreciate it and hope that you’ll keep doing such a great videos. Even though I don’t even have a car, I always enjoy your videos, so one day I buy myself a car, i can do it at home just because of you. Thank you!

  6. 19:24 can somebody tell me if this style of filling coolant is only specific to some cars? I’ve only ever had a ’97 Honda Civic and now I have a 2009 Renault Megane and they both have a min/max lines on coolant reservoir.

  7. Hey Chris, i have the same car 1997 gt.. I replaced my intake manifold and new gasket but still leaks on the passenger rear ..it looks like there’s a hole for a bolt or a stud..do you know what is it…thats prolly why its leaking?thanks

  8. Man its not fair you have so much room to work on the intake. 🤣. My 2003 Lincoln Town Car is all cramped by the firewall.

  9. Sir, you started off with simple take-out put-in and screw video not complex wiring! Any way keep up the good work!!

  10. @chrisfix can I go about just using the singular gaskets that come with the new intake? do I have to use the long single gasket on each side?

  11. So is the performance gasket better than OEM? Do they not make OEM anymore?
Any steps that would or wouldnt apply if replacing on a 2002 4.6? Already has PI intake but i wasnt sure. Like would still have to tap the intake for the coolant temp sensor? Will i need to change the heater tube?

  12. This video helped me a lot I got my 1997 mercury cougar with the 4.6 almost the exact same engine set up I got it fixed up thank you for this video keep doing what you are doing g you are clearly good at it

  13. Bro how does Chris make this look like it’s so easy like you can just walk outside and just replace a whole ass intake how does he make it look so easy Mike bro is I would definitely break my truck or car if I did this

  14. I’m surprised he didn’t tune the computer after messing with the air intake and exhaust. You have to mess with the air fuel mixture if you change either if you want to see the full benefit

  15. See the only problem I have with this video is the parts choice, that “performance” intake isn’t one, simply because of use of plastic at the bottom of the cross metal member at the front of the intake. It’s a terrible design, and Ford Performance intake actually is fully metal, because of the differences in expansion rates and speed at which plastic and metal reach temperatures and such. Because of that, it will always leak from that area after not even a year of proper daily use. I’ve been burned by those multiple times, till I spent extra money and bought the Ford Performance part. It’s far better quality and won’t leak for years.

  16. How do you replace the fitting tube? Do i need to remove the waterpump to get the fitting out? Thank you

  17. I bought stock intake gaskets for my 09 Grand Marquis. Why is it that when I put the locator tabs in place, the gaskets still don’t like up to the holes? Should I use some of that coolant compatible permatex?

  18. So helpful bc I’m putting a whole new edelbrock intake manifold and demon carb on my 1975 Cadillac eldorado. Thanks it will definitely roar now

  19. Im impressed with how BAD that port match is from Ford. That’s like a 40% flow cut into the head lol 14:30

  20. COOLANT DOES NOT TASTE SWEET IT TASTES LIKE BURNING RUBBER, DON’T ASK ME HOW I KNOW I WISH I DIDN’T

  21. How long can an engine run w/o coolant to be considered no good anymore? Mine ran 30 secs without it then turned off the vehicle.

  22. Dude I really appreciated video. I ordered everything and got a new water pump, intake, and thermostat otw!!! Looking forward to swapping everything out and I feel a lot more confident now thanks to your video!! Thank you 🙏🏻
