  1. One tip don’t get a shit one and install it incorrectly. On my first car I had mine very close to the wheel well on my 04 lancer. I had to cut a hole to install it in the right place. And I still have that car today

  2. The only information that would have been nice for others to know is that the filter lets more air in, but larger particles of dirt and dust as well. Which could lead to more wear than if you went with a quality filter. Actually a good quality filter would flow just about as much air but filter better. Of course the sound is nicer, but there is a trade-off

  3. on a lot of cars it gives extra horsepower which in turn will hurt your motor as they arent made for it.

  4. If u live in a country with a lot of rain fall is it then hurtful for ur engine to use a after market open air intake?

  5. If you get your oil change done at a dealer, will they change the filter on an aftermarket air intake? I bought a used 2019 Jetta manual transmission w/15,000 miles on it that had an aftermarket air intake system.. The car is turbo.. I looked it up and found out that the filter on it should be changed at least every year. How would I get it done as a non-mechanic?

  6. Ok, in most cases, not all, but most of the "Cold Air" portion is BS. Most cars intake is routed to the front of the engine compartment and drawing air from the front of the grill (or side). Most CAI’s leave an exposed air filter in a much hotter spot inside the engine bay. That said, yes they do sound cool, but for the most part that, and the also look great, is all they really, in most cases again, are great for.

  7. Nope aftermarket makes things worse in the long run. KN, Volant etc air intakes are garbage. If aftermarket was any good manufacturers would be using it.

  8. TLDR; Just more noise and less money in your pocket.
Actually, more often than not less performance too, as, and this will be a shock to some, experienced engineers actually knew what they were doing when they conceived the car.

  9. But it’s been proven, both the short and ram air dont increase horsepower, only cold air intakes slightly increase horsepoweer. Where was the dyno test sir? LOL. I install these on each car and SUV I’ve had in the past just for the sound……….

  10. Mine has 305,854 miles and still runs, i got it for $200 5 years ago. Last owner thought ut didn’t work anymore. I just had to replace the battery

  11. Short air intake is really dumb, ur intake is closer to the engine. The engine produces heat and does the opposite of what you actually wanted to do.

  12. And ppl who filter Induction kits. FORGET TO ALSO Fit a Shield. So TO RESTRICT HOT air from engine bays, once bonnet is Shut.

  13. Cool air is more dense than hot air. Air inside the engine bay is much warmer than air outside of the car. So air intake inside the engine bay reduse engine power. Just imagining that you are waiting for the green light & all your engine is feed is extremely hot air from around the engine… Why not also fill up the trunk with scrap metal, you clearly want to slow the car down anyway. Which means that air intake inside the engine bay is amateur hour!

  14. What no Dyno tests I believe most aftermarket intakes make no or very little h.p. output and are way way to expensive. Spend your money on exhaust upgrades

  15. Intakes only reach their full potential if you also install aftermarket headers and custom cat back exhaust systems. It doesn’t do any good to suck more air into the engine if you can’t get rid of it faster. You have to think of your engine as essentially an air pump and the intake and exhaust system as one complete system through which the air flows. Choke points at any spot in the system will retard the flow of air and make horse power gains negligible. It’s the same as upgrading your fuel injection system without bothering to upgrade your fuel pump. Remember all the systems on a car engine are interconnected.

Oh and before I forget a short ram is not a cold air intake. The only thing that is truly a CAI has the intake OUTSIDE OF THE ENGINE BAY. If the cone is inside your engine bay then it’s NOT a CAI and it’s NOT going to produce the same amount of power. If you do get a CAI make sure you get a water bypass valve so you don’t hydro lock your engine in a rainstorm.

  16. What’s the point of the sound if the car ain’t moving? ITs like watching those idiots rev their 4 cylinder Honda civics… and going 20 mph after 3 seconds

  17. I have a 1.4L inline 4 N/A Renault Clio, should I go with air intakes, or should I just ditch the whole idea?

  18. I was on the fence changing to cold air intake soni decided to stay with stock but i changed the filter itself to an improved version from the racing line and i do get louder induction sound so all and all still happy.
